Dream realised...

It's been ages since I've updated the blog, and looking back at older posts I noticed one of a juvenile Dino before he made his show ring debut.
I had commented on our high hopes for him as a showdog and a sire.

Over a year on, it seems our hopes became reality. In less than 12 months of competition in the UK,
CH Del Zarzoso Salvame from Afterglow became the
TOP UTILITY DOG for 2011 and #3 ALL BREEDS! He is the winner of
3 ALL BREED BIS and RES BIS at Windsor!

His first puppies look great, too! He seems to be producing his necky, up on leg profile
and his fabulous carriage. Our black puppy Coco, from his first litter out of Afterglow Striptease,
just won the CC and BOB at Manchester last week AND made the shortlist in a massive
Utility group.......at NINE MONTHS!

Dino's next stop: America for the PCA national specialty in April!

We are so proud of Verdi! We first saw this stunning Toy at the Belfast CH show, where he was handled by breeder/co-owner Malcolm Akers of Montflair Poodles (Isle of Man) We were immediately taken and after much negotiation it was agreed that Verdi would come to live here at Afterglow.

Since then, in relatively limited showing in 2010, Verdi won 3 CCs and mulitiple RCCs, a Club show BIS, a group 2nd.......and this year at Crufts won the CC under breeder/judge Kim Beale (Malibu)

To top it off, Verdi is proving his worth as a sire, with his first puppies already out and winning classes.

Here's a pic of Dino (Del Zarzoso Salvame from Afterglow) pictured at 1 year of age. He was bred by Carlos Renau.

We decided to hold him back as a puppy to allow him to grow up and fill out. It has been fun watching him go from a fat baby to a handsome young adult.

All along the way the one common trait has been his exuburant personality that typifies the world ''Poodley'' The is a bold and arrogant stallion of a male and we are so excited about his potential as a show dog and producer.

Dino is yet another elegant and fancy offspring of our ''Sugar Daddy'' dog who is proving to be a fantastic sire regardless of what bitch or bloodlines he has been bred to.

Dino will make his UK debut in December.

I was amazed to see that it's been over a year since I last posted on the blog. I don't know where the time has gone!

Here is a pic of Marley (aka Afterglow Trinidad) He is a son of our Sh CH Afterglow Veronica Mars who was BOB at Crufts this year + 3rd in the group. His sire is Int CH Fiddle Stick's Airforce One, who we had on loan from Susanne Soderbergh of Sweden. While Clinton was here he sired some beautiful puppies and gained his UK CH title in 3 straight shows!

Marley's first and only show this year was Midland Counties. At just days over 6 months of age he behaved like a trooper and went on to win the Reserve CC and Best Puppy.

We are really excited about this puppy. He has so many great things going for him, including fabulous markings which are so important in a particolour. Like his sire and dam, he is confident and outgoing and takes everything in stride.

New Japanese Champion....

Congrats to Honami Ito of Nereid JP American Cockers in Tokyo on such a great start for Electra. Her full name is JKC CH Afterglow Electracute Boduf, and she is by CH Ambrose out of CH Debbie Does Dallas.

In only a handful of shows, Electra is already a group winner! Ms Ito is the breeder of our sensational black girl UK JKC CH Nereid JP Mele Kalikimaka, who is a BIS winner in Britain and was BIS3 at the World Show in Stockholm last year.

3rd CC for Wally...

Our new male buff American Cocker import (from the USA, via Finland...long story!) has been a consistent winner in limited outings since his arrival in the UK. He won his first CC at Belfast, plus a Group 4, then a second CC at Driffield. The next week he won his final 3rd ticket at South Wales, with a group shortlist. Thanks to everyone who has been so supportive of him.

Wally is out of the famous top winning US bitch ''CH MeiHardt's It's All About Grace'' who was BOV from the Veteran class at the 2009 ASC summer national.

Wally's first babies are here in Britain and they look fantastic, in both buff and black. Wally is hip scored, knee scored, and has a current clear eye test. And to top it off his temperament is outstanding! We look forward to our Wally youngsters' debut next year. Wally is at stud to health-tested bitches.

Donny finally gets his BBC-moment

With his Crufts victory behind us, we were surprised to receive a text over dinner to say that Donny had just been on the telly!

Not sure if you caught last night's episode of the BBC program Shooting Stars, but there was a brief cameo of our very own ''Donny!''

It appeared in a spoof on Ulrika Jonsson, and the Poodle shot was meant to have been a pic of the glamorous Swede and her hubby!

Drew at Nat'l Gundog

Mike and Drew (Afterglow Violet Rampage) are pictured after winning BOB and Group 3 at National Gundog last month. Currently with 2 CC's, Drew is well on his way to becoming a UK show champion.

As I've mentioned before, Drew's dad Int CH Cilso de la Gran Aldea is currently in Russia and has already become a specialty and all-breed BIS winner!

Day with Tim Flach...

We spent yesterday in London at the studios of award-winning photographer Tim Flach. He is starting work on a book about the world of dogs and all things canine, following the international success of his horse book Equus. We met Tim at Crufts and he was fascinated with Donny, but since retiring after Crufts he is now sporting a buzzcut. So instead Tim turned his sights on our Donny son Alan (Sugar Daddy.)

We arrived early Monday morning to get Alan ready for the camera. We then went downstairs into the studio. After several hours and a few breaks in between, everyone involved felt we had some fantastic shots. I will post some when they arrive.

There was an earlier post about Alan's amazing debut weekend in the US...turns out it was even better than we thought, as a miscalculation meant that he actually won 15 points in ONE weekend, becoming a Champion in his FIRST weekend! Great news from NY, where our Donny son Afterglow Sugar Daddy made his debut in the US in the expert hands of Kaz Hosaka....he was awarded Winners, Best of Winners and Best of Variety all four days of showing, and topped it all off with a Group 2nd, 3rd and TWO Group Ones! He has won 14 points including both majors in one weekend! Thank you Kaz, Ron and Debbie!

Last fall we decided to send our Toy bitch Citrus (Smash JP Kiss Me) to Canada to be mated to CH Valcopy on Sheer Ice. Barney is a son of the late famous CH Syntifny On The Move and was conceived by 10 year old frozen semen, hence his show name.

Citrus gave us a dog and bitch, and here is a look at the bitch puppy, at 10 weeks.

HUGE thanks to everyone who has helped us to celebrate the fantastic career of Donny, both in America and finally in his homeland the UK.

From his BIS at PCA as a class dog, to his RBIS at Crufts this year, Donny has gained a long list of supporters, admires and fans.

Now Donny's new role is that of complete and total hooligan! His coat is cut short and regular baths are definitely off his weekly agenda!
Thanks to Michael Pawasarat for making America take notice of this special dog and for treating him like a true king. Thanks to Toshi Omura and Kaz Hosaka for their help, guidance and support. Thanks to Lisa CE for her amazing photos and ads like the one featured above.
